Sous l’impulsion de l’Organisation mondiale de la santé et de l’Organisation de l’unité africaine, les Etats africains ont été amenés à développer des politiques nationales concernant « la médecine traditionnelle ». En Côte d’Ivoire, l’organisation de ce secteur relève du Programme national de promotion de la médecine traditionnelle. Une loi relative à son exercice a été adoptée par l’Assemblée nationale le 16 juillet 2015. C’est une étape importante pour l’intégration des praticiens de la « médecine traditionnelle » dans le système de santé.
Ce film présente différents acteurs qui interviennent dans l’arène thérapeutique africaine où des traditions médicales (héritées et innovantes) et des productions locales (à base de substances naturelles) croisent la science, le politique et le juridique. Dans le nouveau marché mondial des médecines alternatives, des médicaments à base de plantes et des compléments alimentaires, ces différents acteurs font face à de nombreux défis à travers : le contrôle des pratiques, la protection des savoirs, la standardisation des « médicaments traditionnels », l’organisation et la formation des praticiens…

Under the direction of the World Health Organization and the Organization of African Unity, African states have been led to develop national policies concerning "traditional medicine". In Côte d'Ivoire, the organization of this sector comes under the National Program for the Promotion of Traditional Medicine. A law establishing the program was adopted by the National Assembly on July 16, 2015. This is an important step for the integration of practitioners of "traditional medicine" into the health system.

This film presents different actors who intervene in the African therapeutic arena where medical traditions (inherited and innovative) and locally produced remedies (based on natural substances) intersect science, politics and law.
