The Changing Face of Iceland
New Releases • 52m
This one-hour documentary special from decorated polar explorer and award-winning environmental documentary filmmaker Mark Terry (The Antarctica Challenge, The Polar Explorer), chronicles these changes and more during his 2018 circumnavigation of the island nation. The film premiered at the United Nations climate summit, COP25, in Glasgow, Scotland in 2021. This third installment in Mark Terry’s trilogy of polar documentaries focuses on the impacts climate change is having on the island nation of Iceland. Touching the Arctic Circle at its north end, changes to Iceland’s glaciers, land, flora, fauna, economy, and people are examined in this documentary film. Recent volcanic eruptions at Mount Fagradalsfjall are featured. Interviews with climate scientists and researchers, marine biologists, tourism industry experts, and even the Prime Minister of Iceland herself, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, are presented alongside striking footage of Iceland’s natural beauty with an original score by award-winning film composer Russell Walker.
